DESIGN DIRECTION

A) Sketches
Following a period of ideation, I brought my creative concepts to life through a combination of traditional paper sketches and digital illustrations. Exploring various ideas on paper allowed me to visually brainstorm and outline initial thoughts. Subsequently, transitioning to the digital realm enabled me to refine and experiment with these concepts in a more dynamic and versatile environment. This dual approach in sketching, both on paper and digitally, facilitated a comprehensive exploration of my ideas, fostering a more nuanced and refined creative process.

FINAL POSTER

After finalizing the poster design, the next step is importing it into After Effects for dynamic enhancement. Utilizing digital photography and graphic design techniques involves animating elements, adding effects, and creating a visually engaging composition. After Effects enables a transition from static design to dynamic storytelling, offering opportunities for animation and interactivity.

Artist statement:

The Portrait of Myself is a personal piece of art that conveys a message of resilience, ambition, and individuality. As a student, the artwork is particularly inspiring as it encourages viewers to connect with the depth and complexity of the subject's personality. The painting reminds us that we are all shaped by our life experiences, astrological influences, and unique passions, ultimately making us who we are. This artwork encourages me to appreciate and understand my journey and pridefully celebrate my individuality.

FINAL VIDEO

After completing the final poster, I transitioned to After Effects to enhance the visual experience further. In this phase, I introduced dynamic elements such as floating bubbles, glowing eyes, and rotating fishes to bring the artwork to life. The goal was to create a captivating and animated composition, leveraging After Effects' movement, illumination, and transformation capabilities. These enhancements contribute to a more immersive and engaging storytelling aspect, elevating the project's overall impact.

After finalizing the video edits in After Effects, I shared the completed work on YouTube through a private link. This step allowed for easy sharing and access to the animated artwork while maintaining privacy through restricted viewing.
